# UatuCode API agent guide

Compact entry point for implementing a Hub API client without reading server source.

## Artifact precedence

1. [OpenAPI](https://tjakobsson.github.io/uatu/api/openapi.yaml) is authoritative for HTTP methods, paths, authentication, parameters, status codes, and JSON schemas.
2. [Streaming contract](https://tjakobsson.github.io/uatu/api/streaming.yaml) is authoritative for the SSE channels, meaning the live stream and clone job events, with their topics, payload schemas, and lifecycle rules.
3. [Contract metadata](https://tjakobsson.github.io/uatu/api/contract.json) identifies revisions, stability, source commit, and artifact hashes.
4. [API changelog](https://tjakobsson.github.io/uatu/api/CHANGELOG.md) provides compatibility and migration guidance.
5. [Source guides](https://tjakobsson.github.io/uatu/docs/guides/) explain workflows but do not override machine-readable schemas.

Routes the Hub proxies under `/s/{workspaceId}/` are internal and appear only in [exclusions.yaml](https://tjakobsson.github.io/uatu/api/exclusions.yaml). Do not call them. The exceptions are `/s/{workspaceId}/api/personal-state` and `/s/{workspaceId}/api/activity-viewed`: the Hub serves them itself, and OpenAPI documents them as Hub operations. Workspace updates come from the live stream, `GET /api/hub/live`.

If artifacts disagree, stop and report drift. Do not infer a wire shape from examples or prose over the canonical contract.

## Compatibility procedure

1. Record the Hub/workspace revision pair from the pinned contract metadata.
2. Authenticate and fetch Hub state; compare its public revision pair. For live payloads from one workspace, compare that workspace entry's `workspaceApiRevision`.
3. If revisions match, use the pinned contract. Product version or source commit differences alone do not imply incompatibility.
4. If either server revision is higher, fetch the published contract, read every intervening changelog migration, and diff the affected domain.
5. If the server revision is lower or no matching published metadata exists, treat compatibility as unproven rather than guessing.

## Migration workflow

Download the target metadata and verify artifact SHA-256 hashes. Diff OpenAPI and streaming artifacts against the pinned snapshot, regenerate transport models, implement changelog migrations, then run authentication, lifecycle, error, reconnect, and resync tests. Update the pinned pair only after those tests pass.

The site publishes one contract, built from `main`. Its metadata reports the `sourceCommit` it was built from — record your own copy of the artifacts alongside that commit for a reproducible baseline, and re-fetch to compare.
